Unitus Capital Malaria No More - NetGuarantee project

2010 - 2011

Overview:
NetGuarantee seeks to accelerate delivery of the single most effective prevention tool in the fight against malaria: insecticide treated mosquito nets. It partners with a global insurance provider to issue payment guarantees to net manufacturers. If implemented, African countries could receive life-saving nets 6-12 months faster than currently possible.

Project Scope:
NetGuarantee seeks to evaluate its social and financial impact analyzing and assessing pre/post NetGuarantee impact model. It also seeks to quantify its true value to Africans. This project will involve assessing the costs and benefits of each potential project.

Deliverables:
To Create a metric to quantify the costs of implementing NG, accounting for risks involved in financial loss; model the social benefits (lives saved, productivity gains, investments in Africa, GDP growth, etc.) along with leveraging potential of NG (for instance, if someone invests in NG, how far and to how many deals that investment be used and reused).

Timing:
The project will begin in the Winter Quarter and will continue into the Spring Quarter if necessary. Students may choose to travel to client site to fulfill project requirements.
